The Impact of Knowledge Management on Developing the Skills of Employees at the Human Capabilities Development Center at King Abdulaziz University: A Case Study
Abstract
This study aims to explore the impact of knowledge management practices on developing employees' skills at the Human Capabilities Development Center at King Abdulaziz University and to identify the main challenges hindering this impact. The importance of the study stems from its role in enriching the literature on the relationship between knowledge management and human resource development in the context of university training centers, as well as its analysis of challenges and its presentation of practical recommendations for improving knowledge management practices at the center. The descriptive analytical approach was used, and a questionnaire consisting of 12 items distributed over 3 main axes was adopted. The center's employees participated in the study by answering the questionnaire, which showed the results, which is the positive impact of knowledge management practices in developing employees' skills, such as improving their problem-solving abilities and applying acquired knowledge. However, it revealed technical and cultural challenges that hinder the effective application of knowledge management, such as the need to develop technical infrastructure and promote a culture of knowledge sharing. The study provided recommendations to address these challenges, including providing continuous training, developing technical systems, and encouraging a culture of continuous learning, to improve the efficiency of knowledge management and enhance its effectiveness in developing employees' skills at the center.
