KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
PROF. DR. M. BILAL ARIK
Born in Seferihisar / Izmir in 1974, Prof. Dr. M. Bilal Arık studied in the Department of Journalism in the Faculty of Communication at Istanbul University after graduating from the elementary, secondary and the high school in Seferihisar. Having taken his master and PhD degrees in the same faculty, he worked as a research assistant at this faculty in between 1997 and 2004. After working as an assistant professor in the Faculty of Communication at Selcuk University in 2004, he received the title of associate professorship in the field of Communication Sciences in 2005. He worked as the Head of the Department of Journalism in between 2005 and 2008 in the Faculty of Communication at Selcuk University. Afterwards, in between 2008-2009, he took the title of vice-deanship in the Faculty of Communication at Gazi University. After working as the Head of the Department of Radio-TV and Cinema in the Faculty of Communication at Erciyes University, he has been working as the Dean of the Faculty of Communication at Akdeniz University since November 10th, 2010. He has published 4 books titled as “Değişen Toplum, Değişen Karikatür (Changing Society, Changing Comics)”, “Top Ekranda (Football on the Screen)”, “İletişim Yazıları (Communication Writings)” and “İletişime Giriş (An Introduction to Communication)”, as well as many national and international articles in many journals and newspapers.
Prof. Serdar Öztürk
Prof. Serdar Öztürk, is a lecturer at Department of Radio Television and Cinema, at Faculty of Communication in Gazi University, Ankara, Turkey. Studied in interdisciplinary perpectives, Öztürk published extensive papers both in national and international journals, and 6 books, and cinema sociology and history. Among his books, Coffeehouses and Power in the Turkish Republic (1930-1945)(Cumhuriyet Türkiyesinde Kahvehane ve İktidar 1940-1945)is also his doctoral dissertation. Cinema, Reception, and Politics during the Early Republican Period (Erken Cumhuriyet Döneminde Sinema Seyir Siyaset); Dialectics of Communication in the Ottoman Period (Osmanlıda İletişimin Diyalektiği); The Sources of Sociology of Communication in Turkey (Türkiye’de İletişim Sosyolojisinin Kaynakları); The Origins of Communication Though in Turkey (Türkiye’de İletişimin Düşüncesinin Kökenleri) are other his major studies.
Öztürk has recently focused on film-philosophy and published some papers about this topic. He also attempted to publish a film-philosophy journal titled SineFilozofi (CinePhilosophy. www.sinefilozofi.org). In this context his forthcoming book CinePhilosophy: The Journey into Kurosawa’s Dreams (SineFilozofi: Akira Kurosawa’nın Düşleri’nde Yolculuk)is basically on the relationship film and philosophy whereas his last published book, Space and Power: The Subpolitics of Communication Places with Movies (Mekan ve İktidar: Filmlerle İletişim Mekanlarının Altpolitikası) has mainly focused on cinema sociology.

Within two weeks from receiving your abstract we will let you know if your proposal is accepted. All accepted abstracts and papers are peer-reviewed and will be published in the conference abstract eBook on our website.
Presentation: You will have up to 15 minutes time for your presentation. It is recommended to speak no longer than 10 minutes and let at least 5 minutes for discussion. Please bring your presentation on a USB flash drive. Each presentation room will be equipped with a laptop and a screen for PowerPoint presentations. The laptop will be set up for power-point presentations. Transparency projectors are not provided. Assume there may not be internet access.
Paper publication: If you would like to publish your paper in THE INTERNATIONAL MULTILINGUAL ACADEMIC JOURNAL – IMAJ (ISSN 2330-6440). The journals are published by the American Academic & Scholarly Research Center and indexed with and included in the Library of Congress, Ulrich, WorldCat, Google Scholar, GetCITED, Cite Seer, Open Archive Harvester and The Universe Digital Library.
