Abstract

Knowledge management processes are considered a critical component in improving institutional performance in modern organizations, as they directly contribute to fostering innovation and increasing operational efficiency. Amid rising challenges and rapid market changes, organizations have become increasingly focused on developing strategies that enable them to manage and utilize knowledge in ways that strengthen their competitive and productive capabilities. This paper aims to review the literature related to knowledge management processes and their relationship with improving institutional performance, summarize prevailing trends, link relevant themes, and trace their chronological development. The review also includes an overview of the historical evolution of both concepts, related theoretical frameworks, as well as conferences, workshops, and academic associations that have addressed the topic. Additionally, it explores the development of research interest in this field within recent scholarly output, concluding with an analysis of digital indicators tracking topic-related terminology. The study finds that, while there is notable academic interest in the role of knowledge management processes in enhancing institutional performance, the approaches and variables used across studies vary significantly.
