Abstract

Web Services 2.0 are of the most prominent services used all around the world. Some people used these services to enrich the educational process, which helped to attract the learner and sustain the impact of education process. Therefore, members of the teaching staff in general education schools used them to support the educational process. Web Services 2.0 are considered among the most used services in education, which led to the emergence of a new type of learning that, combines learning with Web Services 2.0. It is called second-generation e-learning (e-learning 2.0 ) Perhaps the most prominent aim of the study is to identify the extent of awareness of the teaching staff in secondary schools for girls in Taif of Web Services 2.0. In addition, it aimed to identify how often they use the blogs, wikis, RSS and social networks, and their attitudes toward benefiting education. The researcher used a survey to collect the data, and the amount of the sample was 62 teacher. The results showed that 90% of the sample members have knowledge of Web Services 2.0. Internet was one the ways that have been identified. Moreover, 42% of the sample are using blogs and the majority have turned to help in the teaching curricula. 44% are using wikis, and the most prominent tendency is to check the topics that serve teaching curricula. 12% are using RSS to disseminate alerts for students. All members of the sample use social networks, mostly to send important alerts to students. It also shows that the sample members have an awareness of the importance of employing Web Services 2.0 in education, but some are unaware how to use these services, which indicates the scarcity of training courses held for them by the Ministry of Education regarding the Web Services 2.0. Therefore, one of the most prominent recommendations is the need for establishing training courses by the Ministry of Education to rehabilitate teachers in order to communicate with the students of new generation, which depends mostly on technology in all aspects of life. Thus, help to raise their education level and to provide them with basic skills, especially technological, which will contribute to the building of an educated and conscious generation.
