Information Architecture of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology and Johns Hopkins University Websites: Comparative Analysis

Abstract


This study evaluates the usability and effectiveness of the information architecture (IA) on the websites of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and Johns Hopkins University (JHU). The analysis focuses on how these institutions utilize their websites to convey crucial information, such as academic programs, admissions processes, campus events, and resources. KAUST in Saudi Arabia and JHU in the United States websites demonstrate robust website information architectures that enhance navigation, ensure content clarity, and improve accessibility. This structure lets users easily find and understand the information they seek, promoting an efficient and user-friendly experience. This comparative analysis identifies strengths and areas for improvement in both information architectures, offering insights into how universities can optimize their digital platforms to align with institutional missions and enhance user experience. The study reveals how different cultural and educational environments shape their design and functionality by examining the websites of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology KAUST in Saudi Arabia and Johns Hopkins University JHU in the United States.
