HUMAN RIGHTS AND GOOD GOVERNANCE: A CRITICAL NEXUS EXPANDING HUMAN RIGHTS AND ROLE OF CIVIL SOCIETY
Abstract
Human Rights (HR) and Good Governance (GG) are intrinsically interrelated, in that GG can not be achieved without respect
for the HR and HR can not be enforced and observed without GG.
The international HR law protects a wider scope of rights of GG. The promotion of HR requires firm and principled governance at all
level. GG cannot be meaningful without HR. The contribution of judiciary is also very important in the context of GG.
Importantly the civil society can contribute much for the development as well as ensuring GG to establish HR in the country.
