Prof. Dr. ATA ATUN
Prof. Dr. Ata ATUN is a Turkish Cypriot and was born on 1948. He received B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Baghdad University, Iraq on 1971, M.Sc. and Ph.D. Degree in Civil Engineering on 1989 from Century University, USA. Became an Associated Professor on 1998 and a full Professor on 2005 at Near East University, Nicosia, Turkish Republic of North Cyprus. He is the author of 13 text books and 4 Lecture Notes, written in English, currently in use at the Near East University.
Founder of SAMTAY FOUNDATION which released 47 books on the Cultural history of the Turkish People in Cyprus. He is the author of 7 books on Cyprus History and 14 books on Cyprus Politics,
Appointed by the President of the Republic as the Negotiator and the Team Leader to the Turkish Cyprus Delegation for the subcommittee discussions of the Annan Plan between Cyprus Turkish Cypriots and Cyprus Greek Cypriots, organized under the auspices of United Nations on February, March & April 2004.
He was elected as a Member of Parliament, on 1971, appointed as a political advisor to the president of TRN Cyprus in 2001 and to the deputy Prime Minister in 2002.
Appointed as the Chairman to the “TRNC Development Bank” in 2005, appointed by the President of the Republic to the Presidential Advisory Board on May 2010 and elected as the Chairman of Turkish Media Form in 2013.
Since 2002 his articles on international politics published in local and international newspapers. He is married and father of a son and a daughter.
