Safar Mesfer ALHarthi, Khalil A. Yaghi

Abstract

The current study aimed to investigate the application of the metaverse in training and to identify the opportunities and challenges associated with its use in training. We used the documentary methodology and the content analysis. The study yielded several key results, the most important of which are: The metaverse is still in its infancy, and its full potential has yet to be realised. It addresses the limitations of both traditional and online training by combining virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality technologies. The metaverse can provide new educational and training opportunities for learners. The metaverse can facilitate remote collaboration and communication. AI-based methods can help in developing innovative approaches taking into account the personal data and preferences of users. The authors propose a few recommendations, among which are: Conducting further studies on developing metaverse applications in education and training. Further research to explore the full potential of the metaverse. Increase investments in metaverse technologies and advanced assistive technologies that can support the metaverse and enhance user privacy and security. It is necessary for universities to work on a plan to confront the challenges of the metaverse.
