The Integration of Social Work into Healthcare Management and Its Impact on Patient Outcomes
Abstract
This study explores the integration of social work into healthcare management and its influence on patient outcomes in hospitals. Social work services, including psychosocial support, patient advocacy, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration, play a critical role in enhancing holistic patient care and healthcare efficiency. Using a descriptive-analytical quantitative approach, data were collected from 120 healthcare managers and social workers via a structured questionnaire based on a five-point Likert scale.
The study demonstrates a significant positive correlation between social work integration and patient outcomes. Psychosocial support and interdisciplinary collaboration were found to be the strongest predictors of improved outcomes, while gaps were noted in institutional policy implementation and interdepartmental coordination.
The study recommends structured social work frameworks, targeted training programs, and policy alignment to enhance patient care quality and overall hospital performance.
